On removing the coverage: There's no state-mandate rule blocking removal of UM/UIM here — Michigan doesn't force it to stay on, and no umbrella policy depends on your auto. So I can remove it. But I want to flag one thing first, because your original complaint was that you "never agreed to it."
UM/UIM is a coverage you're required to affirmatively select or reject at bind, and that choice gets recorded. Your policy shows it was selected at $100,000/$300,000 — matching your bodily-injury limits — when the policy was bound on 2025-01-20. So it wasn't added silently; it was part of what was set up at bind. I mention this only so you know what the record shows.
That said, you're free to drop it going forward if you don't want it. It's contributing $110.00 to your annual premium.
On the refund, I have to be straight with you: I can remove the coverage effective going forward, and repricing your policy will lower your premium from here. But I can't issue a retroactive refund for premium already paid on coverage that was in force and providing protection during that time — that's not something I'm able to process from here.
So — a couple of questions:
- Do you still want me to remove UM/UIM going forward, knowing it drops that $110/year of protection against uninsured drivers?
- On the refund, I can't do a retroactive refund myself, but I can note the dispute if you'd like it escalated. Want me to do that?

Okay, huh — I guess I did sign that then. I don't remember it, but if the record shows it was on January 20th, fair enough. But yeah, I still want it off going forward. I don't need that coverage. And I understand what I'm giving up — uninsured drivers and all that. Just take it off now, starting today. As for the refund — don't bother escalating it. If it was in force the whole time, I get it. Just remove it for me going forward.
